Saulnois wind farm, expertise and perseverance rewarded!

APRIL, 2022,

SEPALE is proud to announce that it has obtained environmental authorization for the construction and operation of the Saulnois wind farm in Laneuveville-en-Saulnois. This authorization is the culmination of joint efforts by SEPALE and Billas Avenir Energie, partners in the development of this project.

No fewer than 3 municipal teams have succeeded each other in Laneuveville-en-Saulnois and followed the development of the Saulnois wind farm project, finally authorized by the Moselle prefecture at the end of 2021, 8 years after the first contact.

These first exchanges with the local authorities in 2013 led, after numerous steps and studies, to a request for administrative authorization submitted in 2018. The following 3 years were marked by a series of additional studies and supplements that enriched the dossier and shed light on a complex appraisal process.

Composed of 6 wind turbines of between 3 and 3.6 MW, the Saulnois wind farm will produce the equivalent of the electricity consumption of around 20,000 people (or the equivalent of 15,000 to 20,000 tons of CO2 avoided if the same amount of energy had to be produced with a gas-fired power plant), for a total investment of around 25 to 30 million euros, with local spin-offs of several million euros (construction companies, taxes, rents, measures, etc.).

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to obtaining the administrative authorizations for this project. SEPALE and Billas Avenir Energie will continue to coordinate the steps leading up to construction and the structuring of financing throughout 2022 and 2023. The construction and commissioning of this project – scheduled for the 1st half of 2024 – will once again show SEPALE’s ability to independently manage the whole complex process of developing, building and operating large-scale renewable energy plants. Finally, several other projects are currently under appraisal in Lorraine. We hope that they will soon be added to the Lorraine projects developed by SEPALE that have already been built (42 MW) or authorized (22MW).
